For as long as I can remember I have been incredibly passionate and involved in sports. I participated in nearly every sport you can think of.

At the age of 11 rugby union became my preferred sport. I had a huge desire to do well and this drove me into the gym to develop myself physically. When in the gym I was presented with many theories, ideas and methods by a number of fitness instructors wanting to help me. I decided early on to set about acquiring the knowledge to make my own decisions regarding my training.

My rugby developed through my teenage years and I was lucky to find myself within the Northampton Saints Academy. While in the Academy I enrolled on a Foundation Modern Apprenticeship in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations (Coaching, Teaching & Instructing). This was my first first step towards pursuing a career within the exercise and fitness industry.

As an adult I continued with rugby and moved to Bedford Blues where I received my first paying contract. I also continued my education to allow me to develop my passion for science within the sports and exercise world. I enrolled onto a number of personal trainer qualifications to enable me to pursue a career in spreading my knowledge to a wider population. I gained the Performance Enhancement Specialist qualification offered by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I also achieved the Health Fitness Specialist qualification offered by the American College of Sports Medicine.

I have, for over a decade, been the focal point of support to hundreds of people hoping to lose fat, gain muscle, improve health and rehabilitate from injury, surgery and disease. This volume of experience led to me being head-hunted in 2011 by the NHS Herts, Beds & Bucks Primary Care Trust to participate in their ARNI (Action Rehabilitation from Neurological Injury) stroke survivor rehabilitation programme. I trained within this programme to become an ARNI certified personal trainer. I often speak at ARNI conferences and training days to promote the Institute to stroke survivors and their families. This is very rewarding as these days often open people's eyes to a level of rehabilitation they previously thought impossible.

Haley is also a member of the Acupuncture Association for Chartered Physiotherapists and has completed the introductory levels of the Bobath Concept. Haley and her team are now able to accept referrals from AVIVA and Simply Health.

Haley has had both NHS and private experience and has worked in most areas of physiotherapy including neurological, musculoskeletal, orthopedics, elderly care and paediatrics. In 2012 Haley and her fiancé (Scott Hills) set up in business together and created Hills Physical Developments in Markyate St. Albans, where they now have a great team of physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports therapists and personal trainers who work with them. Having such a wide variety of talents within the team enables us to effectively provide very high standards of expertise to our clients drawing on different areas of knowledge from each other.

Haley has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for neurological rehabilitation and is currently on her way to completing a Psychology Masters Degree to enable her to do research within the realm of neuroscience. Her treatments involve mainly one-to-one sessions, but as a team we also offer group training for those that have neurological injuries. Group training is a fantastic way to meet new people and chat amongst others that may have gone through similar things as you. Research also says that group training facilitates the ability to improve physically and mentally via exercise and the observation of others performing exercises. We currently offer group training at Shenley Wood Retirement Village in Milton Keynes and in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, however we are looking at expanding our group sessions further in the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire over the next year. For those of you that are unable to come to our clinic in Markyate or the classes previously mentioned, we are able to see you at your home at a day and time that suits you.

Other services Haley and the team are able to provide is hydrotherapy. We currently do this at Luke’s Place in Putteridge Park Luton. The pool is fully wheelchair accessible and there are toilet and shower facilities. Hydrotherapy is great for a multitude of conditions not just neurological ones, such as joint replacements, chronic regional pain syndrome and balance problems. As you can see we are able to treat a wide range of conditions some of which are listed below. But if you are unsure about if we can help you or not please give us a call and we would happy to help.

  • Stroke
  • Brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Chronic regional pain syndrome
